Mimico’s new premises provides state of the art solutions for heavy equipment

For nearly 20 years Mimico has been one of New Zealand’s largest suppliers of parts to the heavy machinery industry. The company has expanded rapidly over the years and with the addition of new machinery sales and heavy machinery repairs has become a respected leader in this market.

Last year the company shifted to new purpose built premises in Matamata in order to meet the demands of a growing and vibrant business. Twelve months on and Mimico along with sister company, Crane Sales Limited, are experiencing a surge of activity and positive feedback from its customers as a result of the streamlining of its operation.
“It’s all about engaging with our clients and meeting their requirements,” says Mimico managing director, Rex Davies. “This philosophy has been at the heart of our business operation and has served us well since we commenced business as a parts supplier back in 1989.”
Central to the new building is a specifically designed four bay 1200 metre workshop which is equipped with a ten tonne gantry crane allowing enough space for repairs and servicing for even the biggest of jobs. Co-Parts, Mimico’s specialist parts division, is also housed within the new building and supplies more than 30,000 parts from more than ninety suppliers worldwide. The company’s new state of the art computer controlled Kardex VCA parts carousel stores the information of up to 37,000 small parts, meaning that a fast and efficient response to customers’ demands can be achieved within 24 hours of the initial request.

Repairs and reconditioning of world renowned ZF transmission equipment are also carried out within the new workshop complex. ZF’s heavy machinery transmissions are complex and require specialist maintenance skills. To confirm that the equipment is ready for work, Mimico has installed New Zealand’s first ZF test bench which tests each transmission before it leaves the workshop and provides documented evidence to prove that the work has been carried out to the required standard.

Repairs and maintenance are not just limited to the workshop. Mimico has a fleet of seven fully equipped mobile vehicles including diagnostic equipment which enables them to rapidly respond to breakdowns in the field. The Mimico service team is factory trained and is capable of handling any unplanned breakdown for the full line up of Moxy Trucks and Metso Minerals screens and crushers which are sold and serviced nationwide by Mimico.
The Mimico Head Office premises at Matamata also houses the administrative, sales and marketing staff and completes a fully integrated hi-tech operation which is committed to providing the very best for its customers nationwide.
