New laser technology

Abacus Precision Ltd introduces a new era of laser technology to New Zealand with the announcement that the company has recently been appointed NZ agent for MCE, Australia’s only laser manufacturer.

With 27-years’ of experience with laser technology, MCE have developed a range of world leading, quality laser products. These include laser levels and laser-guided machine control systems for roading, sub-division and land levelling contractors. These are marketed in New Zealand under the Calibre brand.

Calibre Lasergrader Dual grade on a sub-division in Churton Park, WellingtonConstructed of stainless steel, Calibre laser levels are automatic self-levelling and 100 per cent dust and waterproof. With Abacus offering full back up and service, the Calibre range represents the perfect investment for contractors wanting quality equipment that will last the distance.

Established five years ago in Christchurch, Abacus Precision is now a New Zealand-wide supplier and service provider for quality laser and optical levels, surveying equipment and accessories, and machine control systems, for earth movers, builders, drain layers and surveyors.

The inclusion of the full Calibre laser product range into their catalogue means that Abacus Precision Ltd can supply laser technology for all ranges of expertise, with lasers and optical levels for use with the smallest one man bands, to 2D and 3D machine control systems for large contractors and projects. The company also specialises in calibrations and repairs for all makes and models of laser and optical equipment. Abacus is fully committed to customer service and back up, supplying quality equipment and solutions to client problems.

As a sample of Abacus’ extensive product range in the area of self-levelling laser levels, clients can choose from the following options:

  • Calibre Colt and Colt HV – for the serious construction and concrete placing teams. With stainless body, self-levelling and 100 per cent waterproof. HV operates in horizontal and vertical

  • Calibre Remington – single grade laser for drain layers and contractors. Superb quality, 400 metre range and 15 per cent grade capacity

  • Calibre Lasergrader – for the serious earthmover who needs range and dual grade technology. With a 1.4 km diameter operating range, 25 per cent slope capability on x and y axis, and a radio remote option, this laser provides the perfect solution for large contracts

  • Calibre Pipeguide – the pipe laser with a difference. With a stainless body and being 100 per cent waterproof, this is the only pipe laser on the market that has percentage and a ratio input mode.

  • The Calibre range also includes the Calibre Bladegrader and land levelling systems that are unique to the earthmoving industry. With blade slope control and laser height control, there’s no need for guesswork when levelling.

The slope indicator is an outstanding development for excavator-mounted augers, pile drivers and well drilling rigs. The device is mounted at the top of the mast (either wired or radio linked) and it sends signals to the operator to indicate plumb in both directions. Using this system allows the operators to use one less man, with the subsequent savings involved.
